MATA ALAKESHWARI ROOPA BHAWANI

Brief Biography

MATA ALAKESHWARI ROOPA BHAWANI RECEIVING GURU DIKSHA FROM HIS FATHER & GREAT SAINT PT. MADHAV JI DHAR

She was a reincarnation of Mata Sharika Bhagwati and people in the valley held her in great esteem.Born Approximately in year 1621 in Dhar Family. Her Ancestors, namely Pt.Zad Meeru Dhar, came to Kashmir with the Mughal King Jehangir. This family, with the rest of the Kashmiri Pandit had to face many diffculties, much similar what they are facing in the present period. She died in Year 1721.

Rupa ded was married in the sapru family. She had to face the similar hardships as Mata Lal Ded did. The style in which she wrote the Manuscripts are also called vakhs Which are very similar with the vakhs of Lal ded. But it is not on records that her vakhs were as popular as Lal Ded's among the masses. The difference in their writings lies between the lines. Her vakhs at times consists of more than five lines.

In her age,the hold of persian language could be stongly felt and one can understand this by reading her vakhs. She had used this language to an good extent. It seems, that with sanskrit she was very familar with it as with the persian language.

Rupa Ded did her Yog Sadhana in Lar Village and at SatPokhan. Her Memorials are also at Safa Kadal and vaskura. The Kashmiri Pandit Samaj Performs two Havans On her name in a year. The first one is performed on (sahiban Satam) in Pitr Paksh and other in Krishan Paksh in the month of Mag.Kashmiri Pandits celebrates these Occassions with full enthussiasim And Sacredness.
